Graham Fairclough is an archaeologist by training. For 35 years he worked in English Heritage in heritage management and landscape characterisation. He is now a member of the McCord Centre for Landscape in Newcastle University. Since the mid-1990s he has also worked with the Council of Europe on the European Landscape Convention and the Faro Convention on the Value of Cultural Heritage for Society; he has participated in many European research networks, and most recently led the ‘CHriScape’ project.
